THE ROUTE: SWEETWATER SPRINGS ROAD
Wind up the hill over Green Valley Rd. for a short stint on Pocket Canyon/Hwy 116 before jumping off at Mays Canyon Rd. We'll crest the hill at the idyllic Porter Bass Biodynamic vineyard and winery before descending through the redwoods and pines down to Guerneville. From there, we'll take a quick right and will head toward Armstrong Woods before hitting Sweetwater Springs Rd. for a climb before a rather steep (and kinda scary - hang on!) descent. Sweetwater is a beautiful ride we haven't done in many a year so we're looking forward to checking out the scenery and new growth since the fires. After Sweetwater, we'll hit the busy but bucolic Westside Rd., over Wohler Bridge, through Forestville and back to Green Valley via the bike trail. We'll probably head off on Ross Rd. to give some space to others on the tight part of the trail before hitting Green Valley Rd. and recommend taking Thomas Rd. at the base of Green Valley to avoid cars. Then.... it's BBQ time. Route link here and RSVP here.

THE BBQ
On the last ride, a few folks (ahem, Tom and Matthew!) had the brilliant idea to BBQ afterward and that is what we are going to do. RSVP's kindly requested, so put your name in here if you're joining in. (This is also our contact list where riders can share their info.)

We'll be practicing standard COVID protocols: We'll be 100% outside for eating and will have plenty of hand sanitizer on hand. If you've been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID within 10 days of a ride, or you have symptoms, please plan to join us for the next one. There will be more!

Speaking of more, Tom Inners over at Live Oak Farm in Petaluma has offered to host April 10 and we're looking forward to seeing his farm and to ride some gorgeous roads! More details to come.

Fire & Forest Ecology at Green Valley

Please join us on the land in learning about, and taking action for, improved fire and forest ecology in the mixed hardwood forest of Green Valley. You will learn about fuel load reduction strategies and the multitude of benefits of engaging with ecosystems alongside a few of the land's active stewards.

We acknowledge and deeply respect that the ecosystems and land of what we call Green Valley were stewarded by the Southern Pomo, Coast Miwok and Kashia Pomo peoples for over a millennia. We warmly welcome all descendants of Native California Tribes to connect if they would like to engage around the stewardship of the land we call Green Valley.

This series will be in preparation for prescribed burning this fall in collaboration with Fire Forward and we look forward to seeing you and working alongside you!

Fire & Forest Ecology at Green Valley

SATURDAYS: September 25 | October 2 | October 23 | November 6
