Fire & Forest Ecology at Green Valley

SATURDAYS: September 25 | October 2 | October 23 | November 6

Please join us on the land in learning about, and taking action for, improved fire and forest ecology in the mixed hardwood forest of Green Valley. You will learn about fuel load reduction strategies and the multitude of benefits of engaging with ecosystems alongside a few of the land's active stewards.

We acknowledge and deeply respect that the ecosystems and land of what we call Green Valley were stewarded by the Southern Pomo, Coast Miwok and Kashia Pomo peoples for over a millennia. We warmly welcome all descendants of Native California Tribes to connect if they would like to engage around the stewardship of the land we call Green Valley.

This series will be in preparation for prescribed burning this fall in collaboration with Fire Forward and we look forward to seeing you and working alongside you!

----------------------

Participants should arrive no later than 9:30 am as the project area is difficult to find. Spots are limited and we encourage you to sign-up early.

–To bring: Water bottle, long sleeves, pants, closed toed shoes, work gloves and tree-trimming tools (if you have them)

–What we'll provide: Water, coffee, snacks, a lift to the forest if needed, tree-trimming tools and gloves

–Please Note: The forest is steep terrain and we will do our best to accommodate the abilities of all participants.

–Please reach out in advance with any accessibility needs you may have. Also to note, there is poison oak in the forest and we will provide alternative activities for those who are not comfortable working near this guardian plant.

–COVID-19: Please bring a mask and stay at home if you are not feeling well or have been exposed to anyone who has tested positive for COVID within two weeks of the date of each event.

–We are sorry to ask that you leave all pets at home. We love animals, but can’t have them visit during our events.
